The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism for hiking the prices of sanitisers, profiting from the exceptional conditions resulting from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The pharmacy which is located in the area of Riffa was found in breach of Law 35 of 2019 on consumer protection, said the ministry in a statement today.
The pharmacy was found to be hiking the price of the the 250-milliliter hand sanitizer by 81 percent and the 500-milliter one by 105% in profit margin gaming soaring demand on such necessary products.
The ministry slammed the greedy hiking of prices as an irresponsible and unacceptable act that depriveds people of necessary goods, thus exploiting these circumstances, without heeding public interest.
The ministry reiterated resolve to continue its clapdown to ensure the commitment of all pharmacies, shops, markets and trading outlets to affordable prices, warning the violators would face legal measures.
