The 10th annual Sharjah International Library Conference (SILC), organized by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) in partnership with the American Libraries Association (ALA), has provided significant learning and networking prospects to 250 librarians, academics, thought leaders, and industry professionals from 14 countries participating in this milestone edition of the event.

Held at the 42nd Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), the two-day conference encompassed discussions on current trends, emerging technologies in the library sector, the creation of innovative spaces to engage readers, and the positive impact of libraries on climate change reversal.

Mansour Al Hassani, Director of Publisher Services at SBA, reflected on the conference's success, underscoring its role in enhancing the global dialogue on libraries, promoting innovation, and evolving the industry. The collaboration with ALA has proven instrumental in advocating for dynamic, knowledge-driven libraries.

Michael Dowling, Director of Chapter and International Relations for ALA, emphasized the conference's significance in Sharjah, expressing gratitude for the welcoming support received over the years. The event explored AI's influence on libraries and their role in addressing climate change concerns.

The conference concluded with discussions on the role of school librarians in nurturing young minds, the libraries' involvement in climate action, the use of virtual reality in library settings, and project-based learning to transform teaching methodologies.

The closing session addressed Library Associations, providing insights into resources and opportunities available for those in the library field. Certificates were distributed to acknowledge the contributions and achievements of attendees, ensuring that the knowledge gained continues to shape the future of libraries in the UAE and globally.
