Over 8,280 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Tuesday (04 July) health officials confirmed.

The Ministry of Health detected 447 new cases of the COVID-19 in foreign workers, contacts and some from recent arrivals to the island kingdom, according to health officials.

Health officials said that 250 expatriate workers were detected with the virus in the past 24 hours, 193 others were infected from local contacts while 4 cases were detected in recent arrivals from abroad.

The Ministry of Health also confirmed that 641 patients recovered from coronavirus bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 23,959 so far.

The latest update (04 July) reveals that there are currently 54 Covid-19 cases receiving treatment, of which 46 are in a critical condition. Over 4,756 cases are stable out of a total of 4,802 active cases. The total number of discharged recovered cases totals to 23,959.

Bahrain has conducted over 5,92,350 tests. Bahrain recorded one fatality yesterday, a 64-year-old Bahraini woman taking the toll to 96.

Meanwhile, disinfection campaigns are being carried out as part of the national efforts to combat the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The campaigns aim to raise awareness on the importance of continuing the sanitisation process, as the best means to reduce the spread of the pandemic, in accordance with the precautionary and preventive measures taken by the kingdom.

Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, praised the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain in supporting the organisation's role in facing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

 He lauded the kingdom’s remarkable role in curbing the spread of the virus by taking effective preventive measures. He also praised Bahrain’s solidarity with the other member states of the organisation in taking comprehensive measures and unifying efforts to quickly find the necessary treatment.
