To attend the closing ceremony of the sixth edition of the "Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season", His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa deputized His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS).

A ceremony organised by the Bahrain Inherited Traditional Sports Committee (Mawrooth) at the outdoor arena of the Bahrain National Museum today was attended by His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, SCYS First Deputy Chairman, Chairman of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

In addition to playing the National Anthem and reciting the Holy Quran verses, a welcoming speech was also delivered.

During the review of the sixth "Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season", which had begun in August, the significance of the event was noted, as it highlighted the kingdom's inherited traditional heritage and its status as a regional pearl fishing center.

A race of 30 foot heritage boats for 3000 metres and a joint Gulf race of 22 foot sailing boats, co-organized by the Bahrain Inherited Traditional Sports Committee and the UAE-based Al-Udeid Marine Sports Club, saw HH Shaikh Nasser watch the contests over HM the King's cups.

In addition, HH Shaikh Nasser attended the freediving competition without modern equipment for professionals and the open water swimming competition for over-40 contestants.

A commemorative gift was presented to HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Fattan Al Rumaithi, the Chairman of the UAE Al-Udeid Marine Sports Club.

In addition to crowning the winners of all competitions, HH Shaikh Nasser congratulated all participants on their exceptional performance.

Bahraini youth can use HM the King's directives to revive their heritage and preserve their authentic identity, His Highness stated.

In a speech at the Marine Heritage Season finale, HH Shaikh Nasser thanked HM the King and expressed appreciation for patronizing the annual event, noting that the royal support is encouraging Bahraini youth to participate in the Mawrooth Committee's heritage events.
