Wael bin Nasser Al-Mubarak, the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, participated in the inauguration ceremony for the planting of 100,000 trees in Bahrain.
This initiative, carried out in collaboration with the Saudi company Tanmiah Food, the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, and the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, was attended by Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, and Dr. Khaled Alabdulkader, CEO of the Saudi National Center for Vegetation Cover and Combating Desertification, representing the Saudi Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture.
Minister Al Mubarak reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, with plans to quadruple the number of mangrove trees and double the overall number of trees in the Kingdom by 2035. He expressed the Kingdom's intention to increase tree numbers through projects, initiatives, and partnerships to enhance sustainable environmental security and climate change adaptation.
Al Mubarak commended Saudi Arabia's role in supporting international environmental preservation efforts, praising the initiative to plant 100,000 trees in Bahrain as a demonstration of its commitment to environmental sustainability in the region.
Dr. Bin Dainah highlighted that the initiative is part of Bahraini-Saudi cooperation in agriculture, environment, and sustainable development, aiming for a more sustainable future. He also praised Saudi Arabia’s campaign for environmental sustainability and its Middle East Green Initiative.
Dr. Alabdulkader explained that the Middle East Green Initiative seeks to create a greener and more sustainable future in the region by fostering coordination among Middle Eastern countries to promote a prosperous ecosystem for all.
