According to provincial officials, the death toll from flash floods unleashed by a glacial lake that burst its banks in India's Himalayas has risen to 74 with 101 still unaccounted for.
In addition to the 25 bodies found in Sikkim, eight army men washed away in West Bengal, according to Sikkim's chief secretary Vijay Bhushan Pathak.
There were 41 bodies found in Jalpaiguri, according to Parveen Shama, the top district official.
The state authorities and the army provided food and communication facilities to about 2,000 tourists trapped in cut-off areas of northern Sikkim.
