In a 2-1 away win against the injury-ravaged Netherlands on Friday, Kylian Mbappe grabbed a double to lead France to early qualification for Euro 2024.

Reuters reported that the World Cup runners-up, who will be joined by Portugal and Belgium in Germany, kept a perfect record in Group B with six victories.

Cristiano Ronaldo's double and Goncalos Ramos' goal earned Portugal a 3-2 win against Slovakia in Group J.

Dodi Lukebakio scored twice during the first half before Romelu Lukaku completed the scoring after the break to secure Belgium's place in the playoffs. Austria would have qualified with a victory.

Despite a couple of mistakes by goalkeeper Mike Maignan, France were comfortable for 80 minutes at the Johan Cruijff Arena.

In the seventh minute, Mbappe volleyed home Jonathan Clauss' perfect cross after leaving the training camp for a day for personal reasons.

Mbappe ensured there would be no comeback eight minutes into the second half after Les Bleus allowed the hosts some confidence before the interval.

For his 42nd international goal, the 24-year-old collected a subtle layoff from Adrien Rabiot before curling a sublime shot into the far top corner from the edge of the box.

In France, he has joined Olivier Giroud (54) and Thierry Henry (51) as the national team's all-time leading scorers. Antoine Griezmann is fourth on the list with 44 goals.

Antoine Griezmann played his 81st consecutive game for France, extending his record.

Injuries prevented Cody Gakpo, Jurrien Timber, Sven Botman, Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong, Mark Flekken, Memphis Depay, Noa Lang, Teun Koopmeiners, Tyrell Malacia, and Steven Berghuis from playing for the Netherlands.

Quilindschy Hartman's debut goal reduced the arrears in the 83rd minute.

As a result of a 2-0 win in Ireland, Greece holds second place in the group with 12 points, three points ahead of the Netherlands.

The Dutch travel to Greece on Monday for their next qualifier while France, who haven't missed a Euros since 1988, play Scotland next week in a friendly.
