His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Honorary President of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), directed the shipment of Gaza-bound Bahraini humanitarian aid to arrive at Egypt's El Arish International Airport under the auspices of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs.
Before entering Gaza, the consignment was handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent. Gaza's Palestine Red Crescent Society will oversee its distribution to Palestinians and hospitals once it arrives in Gaza.
Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed spoke on the occasion. In lauding HM the King's directives to dispatch urgent humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in Gaza, the RHF Secretary-General praised the government's support of the organization, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Additionally, he praised HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad for leading the RHF's humanitarian efforts.
It is anticipated that the first shipment of relief aid, including 40 tonnes of medical, food, and relief supplies and materials, will contribute to meeting the basic needs of the brotherly Palestinian people in Gaza.
He added that the Bahrain National Committee for Supporting the Palestinians in Gaza will launch more initiatives and step up its efforts in support of the Palestinians, based on the fraternal Bahraini-Palestinian relations, assuring the Palestinian people that Bahrain stands with them during this humanitarian crisis to alleviate their suffering.
The CEO of the Egyptian Red Crescent, Dr. Rami Jameel Al Nadher, expressed gratitude and appreciation to HM King Hamad for his directives to deliver humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza. In various circumstances, HM the King is known for helping and assisting brothers and afflicted people.
Bahrain was among the first countries to supply humanitarian aid, Al Nadher said, noting that the Egyptian Red Crescent coordinated with its Palestinian counterpart to receive the Bahraini aid shipment to help support the Palestinians in light of the dire humanitarian situation they are facing.
