A bilateral consultation session was held of Foreign Affairs of the friendly Republic of Turkmenistan.

Bahrain’s side of was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, with the participation of the President of the Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation, Vice-President of the Supreme Council for the Environment, Chairman of the Follow-up Committee for the Implementation of Bilateral Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding signed between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Government of the Republic of Turkmenistan, His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa.

Undersecretary for International Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Turkey, Dr. Ibrahim Yusuf Al-Abdullah, and First Secretary at the of Afro-Asian Directorate,  Ahmed Mohammed Al-Tarifi also attended.

The Turkmen side was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Raşit Meredow, with the participation of the Deputy Foreign Minister and the Heads of the Department of Middle East and Africa Countries and the Department of International Economic Cooperation at the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Al-Zayani affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to enhance bilateral cooperation with Turkmenistan for the benefit of the two friendly countries and people, noting the results of the official state visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the Republic of Turkmenistan in March 2019, and the discussions he held held with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.

He said that this meeting will contribute to strengthening the relations between the two friendly countries in all fields, especially trade, investment, energy, tourism, culture, public health and combating the novel coronavirus.

Meredow expressed his appreciation for the close relations between his country and Bahrain and praised their development and growth in various fields, stressing Turkmenistan's keenness to activate the joint cooperation program between the two friendly countries in all areas.

The consultations session discussed the course of bilateral relations and the efforts exerted to enhance prospects for bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, commercial and social fields.

The virtual session focused on ways to activate the agreements signed between the two friendly countries.

The two sides also exchanged viewpoints on regional and international developments and discussed the efforts to contain the repercussions of COVID-19 pandemic.

The two sides highlighted the importance of continuing efforts, joint coordination and exchange of visits between the two countries at various levels, in a way that contributes to enhancing joint cooperation.

They also stressed the importance of preserving the security and stability of the region, joining efforts to stop the ongoing wars, confront terrorist organizations, and achieving peace and stability.
