It is expected that more than 100 players will compete in the Bahrain Amateur Open golf championship, which will take place at the Royal Golf Club from 12 to 14 October.
BGA (Bahrain Golf Association) announced this yesterday.
In the tournament, gross and net divisions are available for 54 holes of individual stroke play.
There will be a cut for the top 50 gross scores after 36 holes.
Also on the same 18-hole championship course that Colin Montgomerie designed is a qualifier for the 2023 King Hamad Trophy.
In addition to Ahmed Al Zayed, who won the tournament in its second edition, there are several members of the Kingdom's national team golf team who are expected to compete.
The inaugural championship was won by Ali Al Kawari in 2019, while the third tournament was won by Khalifa Al Meraisi in 2021.
Bahrain Amateur Open is part of the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR).
With the announcement of the first-ever Bahrain Champion ship on the 2024 DP World Tour, which is also known as the PGA European Tour, the Bahrain Amateur Open offers something extra.
A US$2.5million prize fund will be awarded to the tournament's overall winner and the top Bahraini amateur.
It is also expected that the winner of the King Hamad Trophy, as well as the top Bahraini player, will participate in the highly anticipated tournament alongside DP World Tour professionals.
