The Kingdom of Bahrain has emerged as an exemplary model in the realm of human rights-related legal achievements, attributed to the guidance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the diligent oversight of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, according to Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al Asfoor, Minister of Social Development.

In a statement commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Minister Al Asfoor commended the pivotal role played by the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa. He acknowledged the SCW's continuous efforts in implementing plans, programs, and policies that reinforce women's rights and combat all forms of violence against them.

Highlighting collaborative initiatives, Minister Al Asfoor emphasized the coordination between relevant authorities and the SCW in inaugurating the National Strategy to Protect Women from Domestic Violence. This strategy aims to enhance women's rights and eradicate various forms of violence against them.

He underscored Bahrain's commitment to the fifth sustainable development goal, focusing on gender equality and empowering women and girls. Minister Al Asfoor pointed to the Social Development Ministry's programs, including the "Dar Al-Aman" (Safety House) for women experiencing domestic violence. Established within community partnership programs with civil society institutions, the "House" offers shelter and social care services, ensuring social integration in collaboration with various official, civil, and private entities.

Addressing family protection, Minister Al Asfoor emphasized the vital role played by the Social Development Ministry's family guidance offices in maintaining family stability. These offices provide guidance services, family counseling sessions, and educational programs, contributing to community awareness. Additionally, they oversee licensing for family guidance centers in alignment with the law on protection from domestic violence.

Minister Al Asfoor asserted Bahrain's advanced international position in protecting women from violence, attributing this to robust legislation and laws that underscore the nation's commitment to raising awareness on combating violence at both the national and international levels.
