Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina, the Oil and Environment Minister and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, met with Hala bint Mohammed Jaber Al Ansari, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW).
During the meeting, topics of mutual interest were discussed, and avenues for enhancing cooperation between the Ministry and the SCW were explored. The minister praised the SCW's role, under the leadership of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King, in advancing the progress of Bahraini women and amplifying their contribution to the overall development process, particularly in the fields of environment and climate.
The meeting delved into Bahrain's participation in the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference, or Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 28), hosted in the United Arab Emirates. The discussions also encompassed Bahrain's stance on documents and decisions expected to be issued during COP28 and their potential impact on women.
The Secretary-General of the SCW expressed gratitude to the minister for his support in achieving gender balance and underscored the significance of bolstering coordination for the empowerment of women in the energy and environment sectors.
