Dubai is set to leverage AI to enhance the digital experiences of both residents and visitors across a wide range of sectors, including healthcare, entertainment, business, and education. Matar Al Hemeiri, Chief Executive of Digital Dubai Government Establishment (Digital Dubai), made this announcement during the Dubai Assembly for Generative AI, which is being held under the patronage of H.H. Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Executive Council, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation.
The city-wide digital platform, known as 'Dubai AI,' will provide comprehensive information and services to all individuals within the city, as reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM). This offering encompasses various aspects of life, from health and entertainment to business and education.
Moza Suwaidan, Chief Executive of the Digital Applications and Platforms Sector at Digital Dubai, emphasized that the introduction of Dubai AI signifies a significant shift in how services will be delivered. The future role of Digital Dubai will focus more on enabling and regulating services and systems, as opposed to operating them.
Christian Gleich, Global Head of Emerging Tech Governance Strategy at the European Blockchain Association, stressed the importance of collectively addressing emerging technologies like tokenization, blockchain, and AI. He noted that the UAE provides an example of effectively managing these technologies, which are increasingly converging and evolving together.
Younus Al Nasser, Chief Executive of Dubai Data and Statistics Establishment, Digital Dubai, advocated for the use of synthetic data to address privacy and security concerns associated with AI applications. Synthetic data involves AI-generated data that replicates the structure and content of real data while protecting individual identities, striking a balance between privacy and data quality. Al Nasser highlighted the pivotal role of synthetic data in fueling digital transformation efforts aligned with Dubai's Economic Agenda D33, aiming to contribute AED 100 billion annually to the city's economy through digital transformation projects.
