Bahrain had initiated plasma treatment which involves taking a blood sample from the donor at the lab and taking the antibodies within the blood. These antibodies would help assist infected patients in decreasing respiratory inflammation.

“We have completed the clinical project on 40 patients and the results are being analyzed by experts. Visits from different scientific centres have been reported to ensure the efficiency of the treatment. The results will be announced once the actual results are received from the specialized teams” said Lt. Col. Dr Manaf Al Qahtani-Member of the National Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Meanwhile, over 330733 Covid-19 tests have been conducted in Bahrain which when compared to the population in Bahrain, is the highest among countries, highlighted Dr Jameela Al Salman-Consultant of Infectious and Internal Diseases at Salmaniya Medical Complex.

“All measure that we follow, even to receive the best recovery percentage compared to countries regionally and internationally is due to the healthcare, early-stage test, isolation of the cases and providing the treatment protocol, following the updates related to Covid-19 and continuous research,” said Dr Jameela.

The latest update reveals over 48 active cases are currently receiving treatment and 9 are in intensive care and are receiving a 24-hour treatment from a specialized medical team.   Over 1,875 stable cases have been recorded of which 4884 are active cases. Bahrain also reported 7407 recovered and discharged cases and 20 deaths as of today.

“We stress the need for everyone to remain committed to the instructions and guidelines issues and limit family gathering and contacts including at work following social distancing," she added.
