The international conference organized by the Ombudsman Office commended Bahrain's dedication to upholding human rights, which is a reflection of its historical, cultural, and moral values.
Gianina Irlando, the President of the National Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement (NACOLE) in the United States, lauded Bahrain's human rights protection efforts, noting that they appeared to be data-driven and scientifically sound. She expressed the difficulty of establishing standards in this field and praised Bahrain's excellent work.
Bahrain maintained its "Tier 1" status for the sixth consecutive year in the 2023 report from the United States Department of State, underscoring its commitment to reinforcing institutions and accountability while safeguarding individual rights.
Ghada Habib, Bahrain's Ombudswoman, highlighted that this conference marked Bahrain's first time hosting such an event. She emphasized that Bahrain's historical approach to human rights protection and promotion is firmly rooted in the principles of humanity and justice, dating back to ancient times.
After a decade of establishing the office, she pointed to numerous success stories, achievements, and compelling statistics that demonstrate the growing confidence in the ombudsman's role and credibility, as well as the tangible benefits of the services it offers.
Almas Ali Jovindah, the Executive Secretary of the OIC Ombudsman Association, emphasized that the conference represented an international collaboration that enhances capacity building, aligns with international laws, and enables mutual learning from diverse experiences. He believed that this event would inspire young people to engage in human rights work and contribute to a better world in collaboration with Bahrain.
