In southern India, an 'incident' has resulted in at least one fatality and critical injuries to two individuals, as disclosed by the state minister of Kerala on Sunday. Reports from local media outlets describe the event as a 'blast' that took place at a Jehovah's Witnesses hall located in Kalamassery, situated near the port city of Kochi in the state of Kerala.

The precise cause of this explosion in Kalamassery remains undisclosed. Pinarayi Vijayan, the Chief Minister of Kerala, provided a statement to the press, saying, 'One person has tragically lost their life, and two others are in critical condition, with additional individuals currently hospitalized.' He further added, 'We are actively in the process of gathering more details.'

The Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency reported multiple 'blasts,' numbering at least three, at a convention center in Kalamassery during a Sunday morning prayer meeting. However, the PTI did not furnish any specific information regarding the cause of these incidents. Assistant Police Commissioner P.V. Baby, in conversation with AFP, confirmed the tragic death of one woman and reported that five other individuals suffered significant burns due to flames that erupted during a three-day prayer gathering attended by approximately 2,500 people.
