His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Governor of the Southern Region, and Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak inspected the Riffa Central Market Development Project and the first phase of the Ain Al Haninia Development Project today.

The meeting was attended by the Undersecretary of Municipalities Affairs, Mohammed Saad Al Sehli, Acting Director-General of the Southern Area Municipality, Abdulla Ibrahim Abdullatif, Chairman of the Southern Area Municipal Council, and Rawya Al Mannai, Assistant Undersecretary for Joint Municipal Services.

Inspecting the two projects and hearing about their progress, the minister and governor were informed of their progress.

In his speech, Minister Al Mubarak emphasised that central markets play an essential role in meeting citizens' daily needs, noting that the Riffa Central Market Development Project is one of the most important projects in the Southern Governorate. A number of development and service projects are currently being implemented to meet the aspirations of citizens.

In line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Southern Governorate expressed their desire to continue communication with local citizens to be informed about their needs and concerns.

The Southern Governorate is committed to improving the quality of service delivery to its citizens and residents by monitoring the progress of work at various establishments, facilities, and projects.

During an inspection of the Riffa Central Market, the minister was informed about the progress of the project, which will be inaugurated by the end of the year.

Vendors and visitors will benefit from the enhanced facilities of the new-look 2361-square-metre Riffa Central Market.

Ain Al Haninia Development Project, covering an area of 7020 square meters, was also presented to the minister.

One of Bahrain's and the Arabian Gulf region's most famous sources of water, the Ain Al Haninia, will be preserved through this project.

Southern Area Municipal Council Chairman praised the partnership between the local municipal council and the executive branch in implementing projects aimed at serving the governorate's people.
