As part of His Majesty's ongoing visit to Italy, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa met today with Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, at the Italian Prime Minister's Office in Rome.

During their meeting, His Majesty and the Italian Prime Minister discussed the strong ties between the two countries as well as various aspects of cooperation and joint action that would achieve their common goals.

In particular, the latest developments in the Gaza Strip were discussed during the meeting.

His Majesty the King reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to strengthening security and stability and consolidating peace in the region, and the firm commitment it has to finding a just solution to the Palestinian issue, by granting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, so that a two-state solution can be reached in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative, ensuring the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state based on East Jerusalem.

His Majesty emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts to avoid any worsening of the situation, to work for the release of any detained civilians, and to protect all civilians who should not be targets of any conflict under international humanitarian law.

Having reiterated that the Kingdom of Bahrain supports the coordination of all efforts to achieve a just, stable, and secure peace for all peoples of the region, His Majesty urged the opening of urgent humanitarian corridors for the entry of medical and relief aid, food, and water into Gaza.

At the international level, His Majesty appreciated the important role played by the Italian Republic to maintain international peace and security.
