South Korea and the United States recently conducted a joint multi-domain special operations exercise aimed at bolstering their interoperability, according to a statement from the U.S. military. This exercise was carried out as part of their collaborative efforts to address military threats from North Korea.

The exercise brought together U.S. Navy SEALs and South Korean forces from the Navy Special Warfare Flotilla and the Army Special Warfare Command. The U.S. Special Operations Command-Korea (SOCKOR) organized the exercise, although the specific location and date were not disclosed, as reported by Yonhap News Agency.

A South Korean Army representative mentioned that the exercise took place from October 16 to October 20 but refrained from sharing further details, citing operational security concerns.

The U.S. unit noted that the training encompassed operations in the maritime, air, and land domains, contributing to the enhancement of interoperability and the ability to execute missions in diverse scenarios. The exercise also involved the deployment of UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and a South Korean landing ship.

SOCKOR operates as a component command of U.S. Forces in Korea, with a primary mission of conducting special operations within the Korean theatre of operations
