After a tense battle with Saudi Arabia's Yazeed Al Rajhi in the final round of the World Rally-Raid Championship, Bahrain Raid Xtreme won the Rallye du Maroc today.
In his BRX Prodrive Hunter, Terranova won the 152km final stage from Al Rajhi in his Toyota, taking the overall rally honors. He was partnered with fellow Argentine Bernardo Graue.
Following a suspension issue on the second leg, Terranova was knocked out of outright contention, but bounced back with a second place finish on the previous stage.
Throughout the day, Terranova, runner-up in Morocco last year, had little to choose between them.
Following yesterday's agonising stage exit, Sebastien Loeb took his BRX Prodrive Hunter to the fifth fastest time on the day alongside Fabian Lurquin.
The final stage included almost 40km of running through the dunes. Exactly 28 kilometers later, Stéphane Peterhansel's Audi hit a halt after 3 minutes and 49 seconds behind Al Rajhi overnight, ending the battle for outright victory.
Despite being stuck in the dunes for a second day, Nasser Al Attiyah retained his World Rally-Raid Championship title, following victories in three previous rounds.
Terranova said at the finish: "We were feeling better and better each day. The win means a lot to us. It was a fantastic rally. We had one mistake, but we really enjoyed it."
Al Rajhi won by 34mins 17secs over team-mate Denis Krotov in second place, while Nani Roma captured third place with a big move.
