
Air India has scheduled a repatriation flight from Bahrain to Bhubaneswar on 20th June as part of Vande Bharat Mission Phase three. This came following the appeal by Odia’s in Bahrain to help the distressed to return home at the earliest.
Albilad had earlier reported that over 150 natives of Odisha in Bahrain had been left unemployed owing to the coronavirus outbreak. Most of them are now surviving on their saving which is running out fast stated Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain. Besides the unemployed, the Minister emphasized the need to repatriate senior citizens, pregnant women.
Bahrain Odia Samaj in the meantime has been helping their distressed community members in providing essential food materials. The organization has distributed food kits and groceries to labour camps earlier while following the rules set by the authorities
Meanwhile, Bahrain’s largest expat association the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) is planning 10 more chartered flights, tentatively from 14 June onwards with one flight every day to Thiruvananthapuram, Cochin and Calicut.
BKS previously arranged four chartered flights helping distressed Keralites return home. The fleet included two Gulf Air flights to Kochi and two Air India Express flights to Kochi and Calicut.
Air India will operate an additional 14 repatriation flights from Bahrain to India which began yesterday June 9 until June 19 to bring back Indians struggling in Bahrain due to the novel coronavirus pandemic under ‘Vande Bharat Mission’.
