The Professional Standards Committee of the Arab Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (PSC-ARABOSAI) has sanctioned a proposed method, submitted by Bahrain’s National Audit Office (NAO), aimed at standardizing the translation of INTOSAI professional standards into Arabic.

This mechanism draws from the practices of international accounting and auditing organizations when translating their standards into various languages. Its primary goal is to establish a shared comprehension of these standards among employees in Arab Supreme Audit Institutions and prevent any ambiguity that could lead to differing interpretations of professional standards' requirements.

The proposed mechanism is set for presentation to the ARABOSAI Executive Council at its December meeting in Riyadh for final approval.

During the twenty-second meeting hosted in Cairo, the National Audit Office (NAO) of Bahrain, represented by Ahmed Mohammed Buti, the Director of Regularity Audit, actively participated. Bahrain has held the committee's Vice-Chairmanship since October 2022. The committee, chaired by Egypt and inclusive of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Iraq, and Morocco, has endorsed the operational plan for 2024 and is set to formalize a memorandum of understanding with the Professional Standards Committee of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) regarding the translation of professional publications into Arabic.
