Over 64 US Embassy alumni of cultural and educational exchange programs attended the US Embassy’s virtual Ramadan youth gathering hosted by US Ambassador Justin Siberell.

The participants engaged with Ambassador Siberell in a question and answer session on COVID-19 and the American and Bahraini efforts to combat this pandemic. They also discussed how different Ramadan is this year in light of the compliance with the precautionary measures taken against the spread of the virus.

Every year, the embassy hosts a youth Iftar but due to social distancing this year, the Iftar was replaced with a virtual discussion with the Ambassador.

Meanwhile, Ramadan traditions are very special in Bahrain. Due to the social distancing Ambassador Siberell delivered Ramadan congratulations and greetings by phone calls and letters, expressing thanks for the kindness shown to Americans living in Bahrain.

Bahrain has been seeing a first of new initiatives on the virtual space especially this Ramadan. The Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) held its first-ever virtual Ramadan ‘eMajlis’, via video conferencing technology.

Batelco also hosted a Virtual Ghabga for members of the local media the first event of its kind in the history of the Company. Batelco was keen to continue with its tradition of hosting the annual Ghabga with the media during Ramadan despite the current circumstances, to show its great appreciation for their efforts in serving the Kingdom of Bahrain through news coverage and awareness on various issues, as well as their on-going support for Batelco in reflecting the various activities it undertakes.
