One of the oldest and largest socio-cultural organization in Bahrain has been working at the forefront to repatriate expatriates back to their home country. The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) has been instrumental in helping Keralite expatriates who were desperately seeking to reach their home country for emergency reasons. 

Six of the chartered flights arranged by BKS already reached their destinations whereby more than a 1,000 people have flown back to their home country. More than five additional flights are awaiting sanctions to complete their mission.

“The global pandemic, Corona has caused financial turbulences to numerous expatriates on the island. Many of them were either laid off or have faced salary cuts. Financial insecurity correlated with the risk of Coronavirus infection has made many to decide to go back to their home country. BKS has already kick-started its mission to repatriate these poor, stranded people by offering them free tickets to fly home" said BKS president, P. V. Radhakrishna Pillai.

BKS is planning to extend this service to deserving candidates who genuinely need help. Plans of the mission will soon be rolled out while applications to avail these services are expected to be called for by the mid of July 2020 added BKS president, P V Radhakrishna Pillai and General Secretary, Varghese Karackal in their joint press note.

Meanwhile, over 181 Indian Nationals in Bahrain departed for Thiruvananthapuram via Kozhikode, Kerala yesterday. Air India Express flight (AIE) IX 1574 left from Bahrain with a total of 181 passengers and two infants on board.
