The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety of South Korea have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing collaboration in the realms of food and medical products, with a focus on quality and safety.
The MoU was jointly signed by Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al Jalajel, Saudi Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SFDA, and Park Jin, Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs.
This agreement seeks to facilitate the exchange of information regarding regulations, standards, international coordination efforts, scientific assessments, laboratory tests for food control, quality and safety management, pre-market evaluations, research, and regulations related to artificial intelligence and innovative medical devices. The MoU also encompasses joint research in areas of mutual interest, the exchange of expertise, consultations, reciprocal visits, and the organization of collaborative seminars, workshops, and training programs.
The scope of cooperation includes food, pharmaceutical products, pharmaceutical biological products, medical devices, and cosmetics.
