In line with efforts to combat Covid-19, Bahrain has been at the forefront in implementing various measures to safeguard the public. Bahrain has secured the latest isolation equipment, including portable isolation chambers designed to isolate and treat suspected active COVID-19 cases.

The state-of-the-art portable isolation chambers are equipped with medical technology available in standard isolation rooms, including negative pressure, UV light HEPA Filter that kills bacteria and viruses, and a fully equipped ICU bed.

Undersecretary at the Ministry of Health and member of the National Medical Taskforce for Combating Coronavirus (COVID-19), Dr Waleed Al Manea reiterated the importance for all to continue wearing face masks when in public settings, including during outdoor recreation, as well as when in close proximity of individuals with underlying health conditions or when in close proximity to elder family members.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation (WHO) is holding a second research and innovation forum, bringing together more than 1000 scientists from all over the world to take stock of the progress made so far, to discuss new research questions and knowledge gaps, and to define research priorities for the remainder of this year and beyond.

WHO highlighted to find, isolate, test and care for every case, trace and quarantine every contact, equip and train health workers and educate and empower communities to protect themselves and others.

More than 10.3 million cases of COVID-19 have now been reported to WHO, and more than 506,000 deaths. For the past week, the number of new cases has exceeded 160,000 on every single day.
