The annual Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), an initiative by the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), has been inaugurated by the Labour Fund "Tamkeen" and will run from November 14-21.
This year's program boasts over 30 events focusing on key economic sectors, featuring specialized workshops, panel discussions, and dialogues with experts from various fields. Additionally, exclusive fashion shows organized by Bahraini creatives, in collaboration with partners and supporters of the entrepreneurship ecosystem, are part of the lineup.
The GEW initiative serves as a platform that brings together entrepreneurs, investors, decision-makers, and other stakeholders to exchange experiences, enrich the entrepreneurial culture, and contribute to the success and sustainability of business projects that support economic development.
Esam Hammad, the Executive Director of Marketing and Customer Experience at Tamkeen and the Managing Director of GEN Bahrain, emphasized the significance of organizing GEW events. He stated, "Tamkeen is committed to organizing Global Entrepreneurship Week activities annually to elevate the role of all stakeholders in the Kingdom's distinctive entrepreneurship ecosystem."
Hammad continued, "Through GEW, we aim to showcase their efforts that directly contribute to empowering Bahraini youth with entrepreneurial and innovative ideas, encouraging them to launch pioneering projects and create quality job opportunities, contributing to the prosperity of the national economy and reinforcing the Kingdom's position as a promising regional hub."
Tamkeen, over the past year, has supported more than 4,000 private sector enterprises through various programs and initiatives. Startups comprised 57% of the enterprises supported, while SMEs accounted for approximately 48%.
