The Al Dhaid Dates Festival, in its third edition, commenced at the Al Dhaid Expo Centre. More than 50 exhibitors, consisting of national date producers, retail traders, and farmers, are actively participating in this event, which is organized by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
Visitors had the opportunity to explore various festival showrooms and engage with exhibitors to discover the diverse date varieties showcased. Additionally, they had the chance to explore the booths of productive families, where various cultural and traditional products were on display.
On the inaugural day, a significant number of farmers and palm farm owners from Sharjah and other Emirates joined the festival. They took part in competitions and auctions, including the Al Heseel Date Contest and the Luxury Dates Contest. The exhibition booths attracted thousands of visitors interested in viewing the finest date varieties and purchasing versatile palm frond products, as reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
Abdulaziz Mohammed Shattaf, SCCI Assistant Director-General of the Communication and Business Sector, emphasized the festival's role in preserving the rich cultural and heritage traditions of Emirati generations. It also supports palm farm owners, promotes advancements in palm cultivation and date production, and maximizes the industry's potential. The festival achieves these objectives by providing farm owners with the necessary resources to enhance farming, production, and marketing efficiency, while also serving as a platform for exchanging expertise and experiences. It showcases the latest approved technologies and practices in palm cultivation and date production.
Mohammad Musabah Al Tunaiji, the festival's general coordinator, pointed out the festival's consistent success over the years, with an even larger turnout this year. Participants flocked to exhibit their farms' finest produce and participate in competitions organized by the Chamber to elevate the status of palm trees and encourage their cultivation and care.
The exhibition showrooms also attracted a significant number of productive families, whose unique contributions were evident through their extensive array of palm-based handicrafts and traditional crafts.
