Today, Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, who holds the position of Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), held a meeting with MIURA Jun, the Director General for International Affairs at the Defence Policy Bureau of the Japanese Ministry of Defence. MIURA Jun is currently visiting the kingdom to participate in the 19th edition of the IISS-Manama Dialogue.

In attendance at the meeting was Lieutenant-General Abdulla bin Hassan Al Noaimi, the Minister of Defence Affairs.

The BDF chief emphasized the profound nature of Bahraini-Japanese relations across various domains, with a particular focus on collaborative military efforts.

As a testament to their commitment, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation and Exchange was officially signed during the meeting. This MoU, aimed at strengthening military relations, formalizes the commitment between the Bahrain Defence Force and the Japanese Ministry of Defence.

The signing ceremony involved Major-General Shaikh Ali bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Assistant Chief of Staff for Human Resources, and MIURA Jun, Director General for International Affairs at the Defence Policy Bureau of the Japanese Ministry of Defence.
