
On the occasion of International Workers' Day coinciding 1st May, the Bahrain Chamber extended its congratulations to all workers in Bahrain, voicing pride in their pivotal role and contribution to the development of the country, and commending them on their diligent hard work and dedication.
Bahrain Chamber also expressed pride Bahrain's developed labour laws and legislation, and the leadership's keenness on empowering workers and safeguarding their rights at all times and under all circumstances. It concluded its statement by reinstating workers' fundamental role in fulfilling the nation's vision and contributing to the development of the country and the sustainability of its economy.
Meanwhile, the Migrant Workers Protection Society in Bahrain has been working around the clock to help migrant workers and has helped over 3,000 workers so far.
“When we started the relief fund our target was to aid 2,000 workers. As the repercussions of the pandemic grew the number of expatriate low-income workers requesting for support increased. We have reached out to over 3,000 people till date and will cross 4,000 in a few days. Our volunteers are working tirelessly to get food items to those in need. Support from donors and volunteers has helped us to reach out to more people,” stated MWPS.
Albilad had earlier reported that a voluntary group has been working around the clock to reach out to individuals who are in need of food. The group known as ‘Sandigan Bahrain’ representing the Filipino community have been distributing food kits with the help of generous donors.
The Filipino voluntary group have been reaching out to Filipino domestic workers and have helped over 155 people during the first round of distribution. The second wave of food pack relied goods were distributed to over 137 people and the group is preparing for the third round.
Many community organisations in Bahrain are distributing food relied kits, reusable masks and informative flyers to help the community.
